I don’t know how many of you watched UFC 94, but it was not only a great card, but also a chance to see some intense throws.

Okay, so although this is a Judo blog, and all about throws, how can one talk about UFC 94 and not detail the St Pierre, BJ Penn matchup.  I’ll keep it short:  Neither St. Pierre nor Anderson Silva are mortal.  I am convinced.  St. Pierre just out fought, out wrestled, out everything BJ.  What was the most interesting for me to see though was how BJ’s guard was non-existent by the third round.  St. Pierre could just pass it at will.  It was interesting to see how, even in the best fighters, technique breaks completely when they are pushed too far.  What does this mean?  Work your cardio my friends.

Okay, so on to the Judo fight of the night: Karo against Dong Hyun Kim.  I gotta tell you… at the beginning I did not believe that Karo had panic disorder.  I thought it was just a cop-out.  But hearing his corner and how they talked to him, and seeing him come out SO much stronger once he got a bit of confidence made me believe.  I feel for him.  t was an interesting fight, and Karo pulled out a split decision win.  But it was by no means the fight with the best throws of the night.

Jon Jones against Stephan Bonner.  Who is this guy?!  Holy crap.  If you want to see some sick throws, find this fight somewhere.  Jon Jones manhandled Bonner.  I’m not even sure if all of those throws have names!
