  • Thoughts on Bully Beatdown

For those of you that haven’t seen it, MTV has a new “Reality” show called Bully Beatdown.  In this show, a picked on person or persons have Mayhem Miller show up, and offer a bully $10,000 to fight a real MMA fighter.

The catch is, that if the bully can’t hold their own, then the money actually goes to the poor, picked on victims.

In theory this may sound pretty good.  But in reality… hmm… actually, I think that “reality” might be what’s missing here. :)

Okay, so if you go into takingonefortheteamthis show expecting a “reality” show I think you will be disappointed.  I don’t really believe the stories of the poor “victims”, and the shocking, surprise visit to the bully is anything but.  It’s clearly a staged meeting after several other meetings leading up to it.  Not to mention the fact that the victims and the bully have probably conspired to split the money anyway.

But wait… it’s just this type of a requirement for any real content that scared people away from true gems like the movie Starship Troopers (one of my favorites.)  So let’s remove the need for reality, and instead focus on a good old butt kicking, where we get to see some poor shmuck try to go two rounds with a hardened fighter.  On that it delivers.

I’m not sure how long that will be able to carry it.  I think it will have to find something more to make it to season two.  But in the meantime, I’ll be checking it out.
